Casey Penn

"Casey Penn is a great singer/songwriter ... someone who sings from her heart,
and you feel it when you hear her sing. Wonderful talent!" (Tim Raybon, Tim Raybon Band)

Based in Central Arkansas, Casey Penn is an Arkansas Country Music Award-nominated songwriter and bluegrass artist. Her recent singles have enjoyed good airplay and have included “Chasing Rainbows,” which debuted on the Top 20 Bluegrass Today weekly chart; “Little Lives;” and “We Go Together Like a Guitar and a Fiddle,” which spent seven months on the Bluegrass Unlimited Top 30 Survey Chart (peaking at #14). Check out the video, this page, as well as more videos here. Her album, One Step Away (2023, Mountain Fever Records), was celebrated with a successful album-release celebration at The Station Inn in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition to the original title track, the album includes several tracks written by Penn, including “Journey to Providence,” cowritten with Thomm Jutz; “Dark and Desperate,” with co-writers Brian Nalley and Roy Hale; and “Winner Every Time,” written by Penn, Larry Cordle, Daniel Crabtree, and Keith Eudy.

Penn is a winner and past judge of the New Song Contest at Walnut Valley Festival and is a winner with Rodger King of the Arkansas Songwriting Competition (2016, “Passing Time” ). Her song, “Oceans,” also written with King, earned an Honorable Mention in the Hazel Dickens Songwriting Competition.

Penn is a former founding member of the Americana duo Lee Street Lyrical. Now dissolved, the band was signed to MFM’s Travianna Records and was a repeat ACMA nominee for Acoustic Act of the Year. Their release, “I’ll Never Be A Mountain Girl,” written by Penn and Irene Kelley, reached #8 on Bluegrass Today’s Weekly Grassicana chart (2021).

Past albums include KingPenn (2016), featuring the original music of Penn and Rodger King.
